How it works
A Unix timestamp counts seconds since 00:00:00 UTC on 1 January 1970, ignoring leap seconds. JavaScript and many IoT platforms use milliseconds instead; the converter treats values with 13 or more digits as milliseconds.
Timestamps have no time zone, so the same number is shown in UTC, Indian Standard Time and your browser's local time zone.
date = 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z + timestamp seconds
milliseconds = seconds × 1000Worked example
The timestamp 1700000000 is 14 November 2023, 22:13:20 UTC, which is 15 November 2023, 03:43:20 IST. The same moment in milliseconds is 1700000000000.
